Backup in a BOX is a partnership Gbackup is a fully automated backup system that can be used to backup data to an off-site server anywhere in the world, provided the client has an internet connection. Here is how the Gbackup software works:
Once the initial sign-up has been completed we will issue you with a username and a password for the software.
We pre-configure the software to ensure all the settings to locate our servers are correct. The Gbackup application has what is known as server locator built into it. Server locator will ensure that you can find our servers no matter where in the world you are situated. Even if we move our servers it will automatically update through the server locator and update the servers internet address. All of this is seamless and requires no user intervention.
You have the ability to configure your backup set/s to meet your specific needs. You may have multiple backup sets running to perform different tasks, or you may have one comprehensive backup set. We have a trained sales and technical team that will be happy to assist you telephonically with regards to configuring your backups as efficiently and effectively as possible. We recommend that you use Bit-backup as your type of backup. Bit-backup is software that will enable the function that after the initial backup, only the changes made within the files you are backing up will be done. This means that if you change one letter in a word document, it is only that letter that will be backed up, as opposed to the full document.
You may select your files for backups in two ways. Firstly by using the explorer type interface. It is a simple as selecting the drives / folders / files you want to backup, and click on the green tick. When your backup next runs everything that is ticked will be backed up. The second option is to use automatic file selection. All you need to do is specify the file types you wish to backup and the Gbackup software will scan your computer for all files of the types you specify, no matter where on your system they are stored.
Now its time to do your backups. When your schedule is set to run or when you click on “Run now”, the following happens:
The Gbackup software will scan your computer for files that are marked to be backed-up or modified. Then the server locator will contact our server. From there the backup is processed and sent over your internet connection to our server. This file is encrypted and compressed before it is sent so you rest at ease while your data sits safely on our NAS system. Only your encryption key will be able to restore your file/s(NB Do not loose it!). Once the files are processed, the catalog is synchronized to ensure every bit of data has been sent and matches. Every time a backup is processed, a log file is added. This file depending on your pre-selection will give you a description of files processed and if any errors occurred while the backup was in progress.
If an error should occur during a scheduled backup (Whether power failure or internet connection droppage). Gbackup icon will flash with a yellow exclamation mark in your task bar which will be clearly visible. Then you can view the log file and see exactly what time the error occurred and which file was the last to be backed up. Then you can run the backup right away and get up to date or wait till you next scheduled time. Running a backup in the background is also possible as Gbackup does not require much system resource and wont affect your work and day to day business.
Restoring files at any given moment from any given location is simple using Gbackup software. As long as you have Gbackup software installed on your system.
Click on Restore tab- You can choose the backup set, the date of backup and the file version you would like to restore. You can also choose individual files or auto-select file types to be restored to any location on your hard drive.
